Upward Bound Youth has teamed up with Wayne County Community Foundation to establish a new $1 million scholarship fund that will help Wayne County students of faith pay for college. The Arrow (Psalm 127:4) Scholarship Fund was established with a $1 million gift from Upward Bound Youth, a Christian youth and family ministry in Smithville, and is held and administered by the Wayne County Community Foundation. It will initially award two students $5,000 each. Recipients can renew the award for up to four years, for a total of as much as $20,000 per student. The scholarship is open to graduating seniors and graduates of any high school in Wayne County. Homeschool graduates and non-traditional students who live in Wayne County may also apply. Applicants must have at least a 3.0 grade point average and show Christian faith, community service, leadership and financial need. First preference goes to students who have volunteered with Upward Bound Youth or who attend a Christian or Bible-based college or university. To renew, recipients must keep a 3.0 GPA and reapply each year, describing how their studies have served as a ministry or mission field. Students can apply through the Foundation’s online scholarship portal at www.WCCFOH.org. One universal application matches the eligibility and considers each applicant for over 150 of the Foundation’s scholarships. Application opens December 15th, 2026 with final submissions and all accompanying materials due March 15, 2027.
