The Holmes County Sheriff’s Office has been awarded $42,000 worth of federal funds. The grants, administered by the Ohio Department of Public Safety, will fund enforcement and education efforts for the fiscal year that began October 1st. The competitive grants are awarded each year to agencies with projects designed to reduce traffic-related fatalities and serious injuries. The sheriff’s office says it plans to use the money on its targeted enforcement campaigns and community outreach focused on seat belt use, impaired driving, motorcycle safety awareness and overall traffic safety.
