The Wayne County Community Foundation awarded more than $550,000 in grants to 25 local organizations during its spring competitive grant cycle. The largest individual award, $60,000, went to the Village of Shreve to help build Harold Miller Park with inclusive playground equipment, ADA-accessible features, safety surfacing, benches and walking paths. Other large grants went to West View Healthy Living and Wayne Center for the Arts, which each received $50,000. Area nonprofit organizations can apply for competitive grants twice each year, with deadlines set for March 1 and Sept. 1.
