The Orrville community showed its support this week for football coach Matt Zuercher, whose contract was not renewed last month by the district’s board of education. More than 70 people, including coaches, teachers and student athletes, spoke out in support of Zurcher at a school board meeting on Tuesday night. A statement released on December 20th by Orrville’s education association said that despite a positive evaluation from Orrville High School Principal Andy Brenner, Athletic Director Audrey Zuercher and a renewal recommendation from Superintendent David Toth, the Board of Education did not support renewing Zuercher’s contract. Board members have not commented publicly on the reason behind their decision.
