Two local companies, one in Wayne County and the other in Holmes County, have been awarded state funding to install solar roofing. Jarrett Companies in Orrville was given $276,000, while Holmes Siding Contractors in Millersburg received $642,000. The solar panels at Jarrett are expected to save the company $26,000 in annual energy costs, while Holmes Siding Contractors will save $42,000 a year. The grants are part of the Rural Energy for America Program, which awarded $3 million to 10 projects throughout the state.
