With more pets being dropped off daily, officials at the Wayne County Dog Shelter and Adoption Center say they now have too many dogs and not enough cages.  According to the county’s dog warden, the shelter has only 50 kennels but is currently housing 63 dogs.  In addition to that problem, the shelter is understaffed and in need of volunteers.  Residents who would like to learn more about volunteer opportunities are asked to contact the shelter.
