Vick, the Wayne County Sheriff’s Department K-9 wounded in last weekend’s deadly standoff with police in Rittman was released from a veterinarian hospital in Copley Township on Tuesday, with dozens of officers there to cheer him on.  There was also a fair number of barks of support from fellow K-9 dogs watching from police cruisers that lined up to escort Vick home to Wayne County.  Vick, a 3-year-old Belgian Malinois, was struck by a bullet in the back, which barely missed his spinal cord.  The decision was made to leave the shrapnel in place to avoid a risky surgery.  Vick should be able to return to duty in a couple weeks as long as the healing goes well and there are no further complications.
