The City of Wooster has decided to temporarily suspending its electric aggregation program and return participants to AEP Ohio’s standard utility rate, also known as the Price to Compare or Standard Service Offer. Wooster said that the aggregation program has saved the community more than $1.1 million since its inception. However, current wholesale market conditions mean private supplier rates are now higher than AEP Ohio’s upcoming standard rate so to ensure residents and small businesses pay the lowest possible price for electricity, the city is pausing the program until market conditions improve. No action is required from residents. The city will monitor the market and reintroduce the program when rates become favorable again. The city said that an official opt-out letter will be mailed to all eligible participants before the launch of any future program.
