The Wayne County Commissioners have recognized Wooster for its 50th year as a Tree City USA city.  The recognition was made during a recent ceremony at the Shisler Conference Center on the Ohio State University Wooster campus.  The city has been part of the Tree City USA program since it began in 1976.  Wooster is one of only three original Tree Cities in Ohio, along with Springfield and Westerville. City officials report maintaining more than 4,300 shade trees along city streets, as well as thousands more in parks and other green spaces.
