Wayne County’s annual Spelling Bee, which celebrated its 100th anniversary last week, was won by an eighth grader from Chippewa Local Schools. Zachary Yeager won the event by correctly spelling the word ineffable. Kailie Stephens, a freshman at Wooster High School, was the evening’s runner-up. Because the Wayne County Spelling Bee was not a qualifying event this year for the annual regional bee, local spellers will take an online test in late February, with the top 10 moving on to the regional bee, which will take place March 15th, in Akron.
