A Flag Day program featuring a historic presentation and live flag-folding demonstration will take place this weekend at the Wayne County Historical Society’s schoolhouse in Wooster. The Wayne County Civil War Round Table is hosting the free public event, which will highlight the history behind the national anthem and include participation from a veteran-led honors group. The program will begin with a presentation on Francis Scott Key’s experience at Fort McHenry during the War of 1812 and how it inspired the writing of “The Star-Spangled Banner.” Following the talk, attendees can observe an official flag-folding ceremony and a demonstration explaining proper techniques for folding an American flag. The program also will include an update on an ongoing effort to identify and commemorate Revolutionary War veterans buried in Wayne County.
