A vacant lot in downtown Wooster will soon be turned into an area for the arts. According to the Wayne Center for the Arts, construction on the new Arts Park, on South Grant Street, will begin in October, with a ribbon cutting ceremony planned for next summer. The $2.5 million project will feature an art space, an outdoor amphitheater, a Garden, playground and a basketball court. The idea for the Arts Park reportedly took root during the COVID-19 pandemic. So far, the WCA has raised $1.5 million of the $2.5 million goal. A public fundraising effort will begin soon.
