A man remains hospitalized after having a shootout with Wooster Police on Wednesday following two car chases in and around the city.  At around 3:30pm, an officer tried to pull over a car with stolen license plates, but the driver didn’t stop. Officers had a short chase with the driver, but it was eventually called off.  Another pursuit later started with a different officer, and the driver got out of his car and began shooting at police. The officers returned fire, and the man got back into to the car and drove off again.  That chase ended when the man’s vehicle collided with a police cruiser on Cleveland Road, at the Dix Expressway exit ramp.  Wooster Police say the man suffered life-threatening injuries from the shootout.  No officers were struck by any bullets or injured during the two chases.
