In Wayne County’s Chippewa Township, work is getting underway this week on a project to improve State Route 21.  The ODOT project encompasses a six-mile stretch of highway between the Summit and Stark County lines. Work began last year and is expected to be completed by June of 2026.  The $30 million project includes pavement replacement, bridge maintenance, culvert and drainage replacements and various safety improvements at the Clinton, Edwards and Grill Road intersections.  Crews are doing preliminary work this week to reconfigure traffic for the construction.  The state Route 585 exit ramp to Route 21 south, which closed on Monday, is estimated to reopen in early September.
